Description
Inca Cueva is an imposing archaeological and natural treasure. Most visitors highlight its invaluable ancient rock art and the deep silence of its surroundings, making it ideal to reconnect with the wild landscapes. The atmosphere is one of total disconnection, although it requires a certain adventurous spirit, as the access involves walking several kilometers directly over a stony riverbed.
It houses caves with rock art and pictographs almost 10,000 years old, painted in black, white, and red by early hunter-gatherers.
💡 Recommendations
- Go very early in the morning. The sun's rays will perfectly illuminate the hills and the caves.
- Wear proper trekking shoes. Much of the trail goes over loose rocks and the riverbed.
- Take great care of the natural environment. Do not leave trash or alter the invaluable rock art of the site.
